"रंग दे बसंती" or RDB as we usually call it is one of my all time favourite movie. Every time I watch it, I feel a sense of patriotism within myself. The way it correlates the present situation with pre independence era is simply mind blowing. It makes me realize that the persons like bhagat singh and rajguru were ordinary persons like us who did extra ordinary deeds by showing unmatched courage and sacrifice.
But the question lies..Are we ready for it?? As, we all want Bhagat singh but in neighbour's home. We don't want to loose our dear ones for the sake of anything. We don't want to compromise with our lavish lifestyle for some change in society. What happens if some brutal thing happens to XYZ of our country..We express some grief..share some articles/photo on social sites and then relax that the same thing didn't happen to us/our dear ones. How selfish we are?? Isn't it??
But, What can we do? We have our responsibilities. We have tough competitions. If we focus much on social issues, chances are that we may end up in being NOTHING...No good job..No lavish life..The cause for which we had started struggling fade away with time due to many different factors. Sometimes, It is due to poor leadership..and sometimes we loose interest as the topic seems out of vogue. Moreover, it is human nature that our priorities keep on changing. Some years back, I wanted to be an engineer and get a job which pays me enough to sustain livelihood but today i want MORE...I look for job profile, location and above all job satisfaction...So,Is it that I am selfish or inconsistent?? No..It happens with everyone. It is not a bad thing to improve our living condition. So, Social cause always becomes a non priority for most of us.
There are several IAS/IPS who join service with the sole motive of changing the system and most of them are well deserving too but very few succeeds to do the same..Some of them bring changes at a local level but what they wanted always seems a distant dream. We can admit that some of the politicians are well learned and honest, yet, what we see is the problem everywhere in most of the departments. What is the cause of this??Why cant the best of us lead the remaining of us to a prosper world?
Well,I feel that the situation is changing but at a slow scale.Best people are doing their work religiously but it takes time to reflect in this large country. The thing which can expedite the process is changing the mindset of country and that can be done by providing better education not degrees. We need to explain the need of sudden change to our new generation. We have to make them visualize that how can they contribute to society..We can show them that the leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Nehru were not perfect and were more or less like the rest of us yet they had some qualities which we need to replicate. We should teach our kids to discuss ideas not people. We should ask our children to call electricity department in case of power cut and not to see if the neighbour is also facing the same problem and then relax. We can ask our offsprings to be an energy radiator and transmit positive energy wherever they go.
All we can do is by changing ourselves, I am not asking to go out for demonstrations. The only thing which we can do is that we can do our job with full honesty, We can change ourselves. We should be knowledge seekers and contribute wherever we can. If we cannot build a road..atleast we can try to prevent it from breaking. If we do this much, The bhagat singhs will easily lead us to prosperity without much sacrifice.
Well,I know its easier said than Done...But, We can atleast TRY!!
